Mark Babington, Financial Audit Director, will deliver a plenary
address on ‘Tackling Debt Owed to Government’ at this one-day
conference.

ICAEW Public Sector Financial Management Conference
31 May 2012, London
Improving and embedding skills and financial capabilities across
the public sector is currently at the heart of the government’s
agenda. A culture of strong financial management and transparency
is needed, starting at the top with the leadership and
accountability.
Challenges include improving governance, simplifying and
improving the quality and timeliness of data and reporting,
understanding better the costs of what government delivers, and
developing finance skills in policy and delivery areas (not just in
the finance function).
The ICAEW is staging this event in partnership with the National
Audit Office and in association with HM Treasury's Government
Finance Profession to discuss these issues. Amyas Morse will give
his perspective on the importance of embedding good governance and
financial management across departments.
