The overview assessment questions focus on the appropriateness and measurement of the estate, and the ongoing strategy for it.

Detailed assessment
'Getting the best from public sector office accommodation' is aimed at all public sector organisations and is intended to contribute to the current debate on the management of public sector property assets. The report comes with two associated volumes: 'Getting the best from public sector office accommodation: Case studies' from across the public and private sectors, and a 'Flexible managed office space decision tool' designed to help public sector organisations determine how to achieve the right balance between flexible and core space.

Other sources include
'The office accommodation of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and its sponsored bodies': recommends establishing measures of performance for offices and benchmarking costs and the use of space; improving the procurement of office services; looking at options for relocation; sharing offices with others; sub-letting surplus office space; and re-organising existing space in to more efficient layouts.

'Managing the Defence Estate': looks at estate rationalisation and development, new management processes and new contracting arrangements.

'Flexible working in Central Government: Leveraging the benefits': an OGC report that discusses current good practice in flexible working and its effect on work activity in terms of contractual arrangements, location, time, technology and workspace.

'Better Asset Management': an OGC collection of web pages that deal with selling surplus assets to free resources for new investment; transferring ownership of assets to the private sector where this secures access to new funding and skills, or transfers risk; identifying and capitalising hidden assets; and increasing value for money from retained assets.

'OGC High Performing Property': an OGC collection of property-related guidance.
