Financial Management

Finance departments have numerous responsibilities ranging from daily cash management and asset monitoring to the production of detailed management information, budgets and the organisation's annual accounts.

Overview assessment
The financial management module of the toolkit looks at how well an organisation's finance department contributes to business efficiency. Overview questions are available to download to help guide the assessment.

Detailed assessment
The NAO has developed materials to support a detailed assessment in this area. These materials cover five key areas: management and staffing; processes and systems; financial management and budgets; annual accounts, management accounts and reporting; and outsourcing. Please contact the NAO Efficiency Centre Team for further information, and to discuss how these materials could be applied to your organisation.
