Welcome to the Publications Database of Reference Material for the Audit of e-Government

Introduction

This database consists of searchable indexes and links to reference material on the audit of e-Government. The information here has been supplied by INTOSAI IT Audit Committee members and the database is maintained by the UK National Audit Office. The information here is freely available for use.

Using the Database

You can view the index to e-Government audit publications in four different ways:

  • Sorted by contributing SAI

  • Sorted by author (usually an organisation or institution)

  • Sorted by category (e.g. reports or other publications)

  • Sorted by keyword (keywords assigned by contributing SAI provide a guide to the subject matter)

To display the index in your preferred sort order: click one of the four links at the top of this page and you will be taken to the appropriate index page.

By default, the index pages will initially display all the publications available in the database. This is useful for an overview of the scope of the material available but, if you wish, you can filter the list to cut down the number of publications displayed by selecting options from the drop down box at the top of the page and clicking the "Apply filter" button.

Clicking an index entry link will start downloading the publication but if you are looking for particular material you can get an overview of the subject matter by clinking the "Details" link.

Contributing to the Database
You are invited to contribute to the database the work of your SAI or other reports and publications on e-government that you think would be helpful to share with others.

What you need to do
Contributions should be submitted by email to intoIT@nao.gsi.gov.uk using a standard template (Word format).

We ask you to supply a little information about each publication submitted to make the database easier to search - including assigning keywords that best describe the publication (see keyword list at the end of the template).

Ideally, we would like the database to contain hypertext links to the source document on the Internet but if that is not possible, documents can be hosted on this site (in MS Word or PDF format, please)

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Background

The IT Audit Committee is looking at the new risks and challenges posed by the implementation of e-government – the online exchange and delivery of information and services to citizens and businesses and other government agencies.

This work has been undertaken by a working group chaired by SAI Norway with support the SAIs of Canada, India, Sweden, UK and USA.

The first phase of this work has produced a detailed look at the life cycle of e-government programmes and projects and the risks associated with each phase. The report of the work so far is available here as an Adobe pdf document.  One of the first outputs from the project is this database of reference material.

The next stage is to analyse audit methods and develop best practice guidance. This will come out of an analysis of the material contributed to this database, so it is most important that we continue to expand the database.

See box, top right, for guidance on how to contribute publications.
