Workshop Eight

 

Stimulating lifestyle change in overweight and obese children

 

Andrew Hill, Senior Lecturer in Behavioural Sicences at Leeds University and Chairman of the Assocation of Obesity introduced the speakers at this workshop and facilitated discussion.

 

Paul Sacher, Specialist Dietician at Great Ormond Street Hospital gave a presentation on the MEND programme – which helps overweight and obese children through a multi-disciplinary intervention in schools and communities.

 

Jane Wardle, Professor of Clinical Psychology at University College London gave a presentation on a family-based behavioural treatment which has been developed by Professor Epstein from the University of Buffalo School of Medicine.

 

Paul Gately, Technical Director at the Carnegie International Camp presented the results from residential weight loss camp.
