Work in Progress: Influencing Consumer Behaviour
Many of the major challenges facing society – from public health issues to climate change – require citizens to adapt their consumption to meet new circumstances.
This study will take a case study approach to examining the effectiveness of government programmes to help citizens change their behaviour, including the role of the Food Standards Agency in helping consumers make choices on nutrition. In addition to three case studies, the study also examines central initiatives to improve the design and implementation of such programmes, and to draw out good practice on behaviour change more widely, focussing on the importance of robust consumer research, a range of appropriately targeted interventions and working with other sectors.
