Work in Progress: The educational outcomes of primary school pupils in mathematics
Study Outline
Our study will assess whether and if so how, primary schools are raising attainment in the standards of numeracy for all pupils so that they make a good start in the development of their knowledge and understanding of mathematics. We will focus on answering the following questions:
- Has the Primary National Strategy improved educational outcomes for all pupils in mathematics?
- Are primary schools narrowing the mathematics attainment gap between pupils from low incomes and disadvantaged backgrounds and their peers?
- Are primary schools working effectively with local partners to improve the educational outcomes of primary school children in mathematics?
Publication Schedule
The main study fieldwork will take place in spring 2008, and the report will be published in autumn 2008.
