Work in Progress: Recruiting People Efficiently
Study Outline
We will assess the efficiency of the recruitment process in a sample of central government departments. Of the half a million UK Civil Servants, over forty thousand were recruited last year. An inefficient recruitment process adds to the length of time that posts remain vacant. If departments have vacant posts it affects their ability to deliver front line services and increases spending on interim measures such as temporary staff.
The report will audit the efficiency of central government's current recruitment processes. The report will also identify opportunities to improve efficiency by undertaking detailed process analysis in a sample of central government departments
Publication Schedule
We intend to publish our report in the winter of 2008.
