Working in our Newcastle Office

About Us

The National Audit Office conducts financial audits of all government departments and agencies and many other public bodies, and reports to Parliament on the value for money with which these bodies have spent public money. Our relations with Parliament, and in particular with its Committee of Public Accounts (PAC), are central to our work.

Our team in Newcastle carry out the financial audit and value money work on the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the Department for Communities and Local Government, the Department for Work and Pensions, and part of the Department of Health. Our day to day work involves planning and carrying out audits, dealing with queries from Parliament and the media, hosting conferences, presentations to Audit Committees training and staff management.

Our clients are typically unique and provide a fascinating insight into the workings of government. How would you value a flood defence that could be over a hundred years old? What can we do to reduce the level of fraud in benefit payments?
