Civil Service Live, 5-7 July London Olympia
Now in its fourth year, Civil Service Live is
the largest gathering of civil servants designed to inspire
innovation and promote best practice across all government
departments and agencies.
With senior civil servants from across all
departments attending, the event will be an unprecedented
opportunity to engage with the civil service in a positive and
innovative environment.
The NAO will be at stand no.68, with experts
available every day to discuss with delegates the challenges they
are facing.
The Comptroller & Auditor General, Amyas
Morse will be taking part in a panel discussion on the subject of
Transparency on Thursday 7 July at 3-4pm in the Auditorium
(capacity of 450).
The session will address the following:
Open Data: defining characteristic of 21st century
government?
The role of Transparency as a key driver
of accountability, improved public service outcomes, as well as
social and economic growth.
Open Data may be one of the most powerful
levers of 21st century public policy: it makes accountability real
for citizens; it improves outcomes and productivity in key services
through informed comparison; it transforms social relationships –
empowering individuals and communities; and it drives dynamic
economic growth. The potential value of the public sector data
market in Europe alone is estimated at 250bn Euro.

is power, how it compares with traditional levers of power and how
by sharing information, we can deliver modern, personalised and
sustainable public services.
