Practice Networks

Practices are networks of National Audit Office (NAO) staff who have expertise in specific areas of our work. They include:

Economics and Statistics Performance Measurement
Efficiency Private Finance
Financial management and Governance Project Delivery
Fraud Regulation

They have both an internal and an external focus:

  • Internally, the Practices build on the skills and expertise of the NAO so that we deliver a better and consistent service to audited bodies.
  • Externally, Practices promote their capabilities and expertise to ensure the NAO adds value to debates on public sector management.

Our Practices provide an independent and authoritative voice on the themes and subjects which surface regularly in the work of the NAO and which can be shared across our own organisation and with other public sector bodies.

What do NAO Practices means for the organisations we audit?

Our Practices are a focal point for the organisations we audit to access our full range of knowledge and expertise in these specialist areas.

If you have a particular issue or question in any of these areas, please contact the relevant Practice lead.  A quick discussion or conversation may be enough to help you; or we can arrange contacts with other experts in academia, consultancy or the private sector; or provide formal written advice and analysis.
