A very warm welcome to our new trainees who join us today! To help you get off to a good start, we’ve dug out a blog post from our previous trainee Robert on what to expect and how to make the most of your time at the NAO. Good luck – we are looking forward to working with you.
Having recently qualified and gaining promotion, I am no longer a graduate trainee and thus my time on the blog must come to an end (don’t worry, others will replace me). Before I head off, it was suggested that I note down a few thoughts on how to make life as a trainee a bit better. more… Top tips… for someone starting the programme (part 1)

As you may already know I’m an active member of the regional society NCASS (Northern Chartered Accountant’s Student Society). NCASS, along with the other student groups, organises events for those that are training to give opportunities to socialise and network, especially with trainees from other organisations. Some events also offer chances to network with students from other professions, such as the RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors). These events can therefore offer a different perspective to everyday encounters! more… Your local student society: Dinners, support sessions and other events

All things must come to an end, be it a nice holiday, an awesome movie, a damned good meal (or hangovers, exams etc.) or even the time as a graduate trainee. I was asked to look back at my time as a trainee to pick out a top 10 of things I did that I really enjoyed. more… My top 10 things from my time as a graduate trainee

While on leave over Christmas, a Facebook message popped up on my phone that I wasn’t expecting. It was from a member of my intake of graduate trainees, inviting me to join a team at the NAO Film Quiz.
Pleased to be invited, and always enjoying a social evening with my fellow trainees, I said yes. I do worry that my friends might have thought someone of my age and background would know a lot about films. Well, they certainly know better now! more… NAO Film Quiz – so good, they ran it twice
