Briefing for The House of commons: Performance of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

This briefing by the National Audit Office is in response to a request from the Environmental Audit Committee to provide an overview of government policy on adapting to climate change, including the implications of the Climate Change Act 2008 and the cross-government Adapting to Climate Change Programme, and progress across government Departments in identifying and managing risks from future climate change impacts.
A briefing on delivery of the target to reduce central government’s office carbon emissions by 10 per cent in the 12 months since the 2010 General Election.
The UK is committed, under the Climate Change Act 2008, to cutting carbon
emissions by at least 34 per cent by 2020 and by at least 80 per cent by 2050
compared to a 1990 baseline.
