DWP’s employment support for disabled people

The Government set itself the goal of seeing 1 million more disabled people in employment by 2027 in its policy paper Improving Lives: the Future of Work, Health and Disability.

This study will examine the Department for Work and Pensions’ (DWP) employment support to people with disabilities and long-term health conditions. In particular it will consider recent progress in helping more disabled people and those with health conditions into work; the effectiveness of DWP interventions; and review its approach to improving its package of support through “test and learn” activity and its work with the joint Work and Health Unit. It will also consider the role of Jobcentre Plus work coaches in helping to provide tailored and personalised support to disabled people and people with health conditions.

If you would like to provide evidence for our study please email the study team on, putting the study title in the subject line. The team will consider the evidence you provide; however, please note that due to the volume of information we receive we may not respond to you directly.
