Green Investment Bank

The Government created the UK Green Investment Bank (GIB) in 2012 to accelerate the UK’s transition to a greener, stronger economy. The GIB invests in green infrastructure projects across the UK, and is designed to form a key part of the UK’s efforts to achieve its legally binding environmental targets. In July 2015, government announced that it was exploring options to move the GIB into private ownership, and in March 2016 a sale process was officially launched. A sale was announced in April 2017.

This study will consider whether the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has achieved the objectives of the UK Green Investment Bank intervention, and if UK Government Investments (UKGI) has achieved value for money in the sale.
