Mental health services for children and young people

This study is part of the National Audit Office’s programme of work on mental health, and will focus on services for children and young people. It will primarily consider NHS-funded services, but will also look at services provided in other settings such as in schools and by local authorities where relevant.

The study will consider the government’s progress in implementing its ambitions for more sustainable and effective mental health services for children and young people. We will assess whether the strategy for improvement is well-evidenced and credible; whether there is strong accountability for spending and for outcomes for young people; and whether the delivery of the strategy is on track.

If you would like to provide evidence for our study please email the study team on, putting the study title in the subject line. The team will consider the evidence you provide; however, please note that due to the volume of information we receive we may not respond to you directly. If you need to raise a concern please use our contact form.
