The use of cash has declined in recent years, as many people have increasingly turned to alternative payment methods. The study will examine how well public authorities are overseeing and managing the cash system. It will cover the roles of HM Treasury, the Bank of England, the Royal Mint, the Payment Systems Regulator and the Financial Conduct Authority. Specifically, the questions we will seek to answer during the study will be:
- How well are individual public bodies meeting their objectives for the UK cash system?
- Are the public bodies working together effectively to meet system-wide objectives?
If you would like to provide evidence for our study please email the study team on firstname.lastname@example.org, putting the study title in the subject line. The team will consider the evidence you provide; however, please note that due to the volume of information we receive we may not respond to you directly.
