This study builds on our previous Investigation into preparations for potential COVID-19 vaccines, published in December 2020, which examined government’s progress in securing potential vaccines and determining how they would be deployed to the public. Following the roll-out of mass vaccinations, this second study will examine how well placed the government is to meet its full objectives for the COVID-19 vaccine programme, including:
- progress with the COVID-19 vaccines programme since the NAO last reported in December 2020;
- the drivers of success in the first phases of the mass roll-out;
- the future aims and challenges for the vaccines programme as the first phases of roll-out come to an end; and
- the risks to sustainability and delivering value for money in future.
