The UK border: preparedness for EU exit further update

On 31 October 2019, the United Kingdom (UK) is set to leave the European Union (EU). The government is preparing for when the UK–EU relationship changes and the EU begins treating the UK as a non-member state and third country for the purposes of EU law.

We have previously published two reports on government’s preparedness at the UK Border for EU Exit, in October 2018 and February 2019, focusing primarily on preparations in the event of ‘no deal’. We are currently reviewing government’s preparedness at the border if the UK leaves the EU without a deal on 31 October 2019.
