Government has acknowledged that the justice system is complex, slow and costly. In 2015, Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service launched a £1 billion, six year programme of work that aims to:
- Ensure justice is accessible to those who seek it;
- Create a system that is financially viable through a more cost-effective infrastructure (physical and digital) and streamlined working practices;
- Help retain the UK’s international standing as a world-class provider of legal services – and the judiciary’s reputation as a world leader.
Our study will set out what changes the department intends to deliver and by when, and examine the progress of the programme to date. It will assess how well the programme is being managed and, based on our previous examinations of similar programmes, identify the most significant risks to the successful delivery of the programmes objectives.
If you would like to provide evidence for our study please email the study team on firstname.lastname@example.org putting the study title in the subject line. The team will consider the evidence you provide; however, please note that due to the volume of information we receive we may not respond to you directly.
