Central government’s implementation of the national Compact

The Compact is a voluntary agreement that sets out shared principles for effective partnership working between the government and voluntary and civil society organisations in England.

This report examines the implementation of the national Compact by central government departments following its renewal in December 2010. Our findings are based on work at nine departments, representing 98 per cent of central government’s expenditure with the civil society. We also consulted the civil society sector.
