Jump to downloadsThe Committee’s 7th Report of 2006-07 requested that the National Audit Office examine British Waterways’ finances between 2002 and 2012 in order to determine whether the income streams were sufficient to maintain the waterways network over the coming years.
Our examination focused on three key areas: Confirmation of the additional £70.5 million received between 2002-03 and 2006-07; The reasonableness of the estimates that future income would decrease by £41.5 million compared to the original 2002 plan; and The estimated costs of work required to maintain British Waterways’ assets in a satisfactory condition.
