Government is interested in Agile delivery to combat waste and reduce the risk of project failure. It will use Agile delivery:

  • in half of major ICT-enabled change programmes by April 2013; and
  • to reduce the average delivery time in these programmes by 20 per cent by 2014.

The Department for Work and Pensions is well-known for using some agile approaches in its projects to introduce welfare reforms, but other central government organisations have been using Agile delivery for a number of years. The case examples highlight some Agile practices that they are using.
