We conduct investigations to establish the facts where there are concerns about public spending issues, such as service failures or financial irregularities. These concerns may be raised by MPs, the media or the public, or be identified through our work.

Our investigations establish the facts, rather than evaluating consequences as we do in our value for money reports, so we can report rapidly to address live and emerging issues and provide Parliament with timely reports.

See examples of our investigations and an overview of this work in our blog-post NAO investigates.
