Director

Simon Reason

Simon directs the National Audit Office’s Commercial Insights team. He started his career in investment banking, then moved to a strategy role at Mars, one of the world’s largest privately owned companies. He has been at the NAO for over 20 years where he has audited a range of policy areas, including regulation, health and defence.

For the last eight years Simon has directed the NAO’s HM Treasury and Corporate Finance Team reporting on topics such as asset sales, government’s COVID-19 response schemes, and the spending and planning framework.

He is an Associate of the CFA Society of the UK, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments, and is a certified counter-fraud examiner.

Lilian Ndianefo

Lilian is a qualified accountant and a chartered governance professional and has worked across both the NAO financial audit and value for money service lines. Over the last several years, Lilian has been providing advisory services for our work on corporate finance, commercial contracting and procurrent as well as publishing insights on related topics.

Before joining the NAO, Lilian had many years of experience managing a large portfolio of corporate multinationals for one of the Big Four audit firms.

Karla Prime

Karla brings 13 years of experience in criminal and corporate law, along with seven years spent as an academic focused on international business and economic development to the team. In the Commercial Insights team, Karla builds on her research into public procurement and regulation.

  • how to regulate effectively
