We publish an annual Transparency Report on our audit quality. High quality audit work is central to the work and role of the National Audit Office (NAO). Maintaining and improving the quality of our work is a key priority for us.

The Transparency Report for 2025-26 sets out:

  • Our context and key achievements during the year
  • Our governance and accountability arrangements, which promote and support the quality of our audit work
  • Our system of quality management, with specific assessments for our financial audit and value-for-money work
  • Findings from our financial audit and value-for-money quality reviews and the steps we are taking to further improve the quality of our audit work
  • How we attract, develop, retain and support our people to deliver audit work that meets our quality standards
